Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biology : Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Systems Biomedicine available in the Molecular Systems Physiology Group (Prof. Dr. I. Thiele) at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine at the University of Luxembourg.
The LCSB is accelerating biomedical research by closing the link between systems biology and medical research. Collaboration between biologists, medical doctors, computer scientists, physicists and mathematicians is offering new insights in complex systems like cells, organs, and organisms. These insights are essential for understanding principal mechanisms of disease pathogenesis and for developing new tools in diagnostics and therapy.
The Molecular Systems Physiology group, at the LCSB, focuses its research on using and developing state-of-art computational approaches to investigate the links between diet and human health.
Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biology (m/f)
· Fixed-term contract: 1 year, with the option for extension up to 5 years, 40 hrs per week
· Ref number: R-AGR-0652-11-B
The successful candidate will work as part an international and interdisciplinary team dedicated to understand how nutrition influences human health and disease. We use state-of-the-art computational modeling methods, with emphasis on constraint-based modeling, to address this question. The successful candidate will generate and analyze multi-scale computational models of various cellular processes in human cells in the context of Parkinson's disease. The postdoctoral project is embedded in the multi-institutional SysMedPD project offering excellent scientific opportunities in a highly stimulating and interdisciplinary environment involving close interactions between medical, computational, and basic scientists.
