Summary
We are seeking to appoint a skilled and motivated postdoctoral research associate for a new 2 year project ‘Attention Bias Modification (ABM): a novel approach to anxiety management in people with Parkinson’s’. The study is funded by Parkinson’s UK. The post will be within the Department of Psychology and located at the Denmark Hill Campus.
Details
The post holder will have primary responsibility for the day to day running of the project which will involve two experimental laboratory based studies to assess (i) the presence and nature of any attentional biases to threat signals that may maintain symptoms of anxiety, and (ii) the malleability of such biases using single session ABM.
The role requires experience and ability to work independently within the requirements of the project to deliver the funded research. Also the ability to interact effectively and sensitively to research participants who have chronic neurological conditions, some with additional mental health problems.
Experience (and/or good working knowledge) of relevant quantitative research methods is required including reaction time assessment and psychophysiology. The successful applicant will have excellent organisational, project managements and communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as in a team.

Salary
The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications, within the Grade 6 scale, currently £32,600 to a maximum £35,609 per annum plus £2,323 per annum London Allowance.
Post duration
Fixed term contract for 24 months.
