Job title: Postdoctoral Training Fellow in Molecular Neurobiology
Location: Mill Hill London
Contract: Fixed-Term, Full- time
Salary: Competitive plus benefits, subject to skills and experience
Vacancy ID: 002523
We wish to identify an enthusiastic postdoctoral scientist who will be appointed as a Postdoctoral Training Fellow to work with a high degree of independence in the group of Vassilis Pachnis. The project involves the characterization of the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underpin the development and homeostasis of the enteric nervous system with particular emphasis on the interaction of enteric neurons and glia with other gastrointestinal cell types and tissues, such as the mucosal immune system. The successful candidate will be expected to use a wide spectrum of experimental approaches, including generation and analysis of transgenic animal0 models, genome-wide gene expression analysis and ex vivo and in vivo physiological assays.
The successful candidate will have a relevant PhD or be in the final stages of completing their PhD in molecular biology, developmental biology, neuroscience or immunology. Knowledge of basic molecular biology and cell biology techniques is essential. Previous experience in the study of cell signaling, neurophysiology and/or immunology would be a significant advantage.
Applicants should be able to learn quickly and develop collaborative projects, be able to communicate scientific ideas effectively and have an excellent publication record (appropriate for their career level). A high degree of enthusiasm for the research project will be essential for its successful outcome.
Situated in Mill Hill, North West London, the Francis Crick Institute will be part of the new and exciting biomedical research Institute in Central London. The Crick Institute will provide excellent training for researchers in a multi-disciplinary environment and will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including genetic modification of mice, imaging, histology, and high throughput sequencing.
