One postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. We are looking for a highly motivated, recently graduated Ph.D. with expertise in cellular and molecular immunology or related area to study the relationship(s) between host innate immunity and the pathogenesis of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. Currently, the focus of the lab is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of a pattern recognition receptor (especially TLRand IL-1R family receptors) signaling pathway and the role of a signaling modulator in a pattern recognition receptor signaling in the pathogenesis of chronic autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis and SLE, and in acute and chronic inflammatory disorders, including sepsis and hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. with a strong background in biological sciences (biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, pathology, and physiology).
- Research experience in areas useful to studies of cell signal transduction, innate immune response, inflammation, bacterial pathogenesis, and autoimmune disease.
- Basic understanding of and experience with ELISA assays, Western blot analysis, protein-protein interactions, in vitro kinase assays, cell proliferation assays, cytotoxicity assays, PCR, gene cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, gel electrophoresis, Southern blots, Northern blots and RNA isolation, siRNA, CRISPR, in-situ hybridization, gene chip analysis, CHIP assays, cellular transfection, tissue culture, FACS, confocal microscopy, viral gene delivery system, and database searches
- Ability to work with rodents.
- Ability to learn and develop new techniques, whenever necessary.
