We have an exciting opportunity to support a cutting edge research laboratory at Harvard Medical School.  The selected candidate will work collaboratively with Dr. David Ginty, a world-renowned neurobiologist studying the sense of touch, as well as with his team of 21 lab members including postdoctoral fellows, technicians and graduate students. 

Principal Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day activities within the laboratory, with a strong emphasis on the regulating mouse behavioral assays; assure effective operation of equipment; obtain and insure adequate supplies for experimental needs; and maintain compliance with all policies and regulations.
• Manage the use and scheduling of 3 mouse behavioral rooms
• Carry out research projects in collaboration with other lab members
• Assist with lab safety programs and animal protocols and act as liaison between laboratory and host safety and animal care regulatory offices to insure compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Develop or update animal protocols as needed
• Train incoming personnel in proper lab conduct as it relates to behavioral tests and may provide instruction regarding experimental protocols. Able to develop instructional material for routine training purposes.
• Evaluate new techniques and technology as requested.

Preferred Qualifications:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in biomedical sciences with proven work experience in mouse behavioral analyses. Candidates without an advanced (MS or PhD) degree who have experience with mouse behavioral assays will also be considered.
• Previous experience with lab management activities
• Strong writing and computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with the Mac platform and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to use good judgment in working independently, showing initiative
