Postdoctoral Positions in Epigenetics and Cancer: Moffitt Cancer Center : Tampa, FL, United States
The laboratory of Dr. Nupam Mahajan at Moffitt Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in studying fundamental mechanisms of Tyrosine kinase mediated epigenetic modifications and their role in cancers. The positions provide exciting opportunities in different 'omics' integrative analysis of prostate and breast cancers and the mechanisms involved in hormonal independence. It also involves testing novel small molecule compounds as potential therapeutic agents to overcome drug-resistance. Our research group has identified novel histone modification marks (Nature Struc. Mol Biol. 19, 930–937; 2012) and interrogated the fundamental processes driven by these novel epigenetic events. We pursue how these epigenetic events participate in tumor progression, and have identified small molecules that could suppress tumor progression (J Med Chem. 58:2746-63, 2015).
We are looking for two highly motivated individuals with PhD in molecular biology, immunology or biochemistry with a demonstrated competence and publications in internationally recognized journals. An experience in the biology of cancer, preferably prostate or breast cancer and/or steroid receptors (androgen receptor, estrogen receptor) is desirable, but not necessary. Expertise in Immunology will be highly desirable.
Technical expertise in standard basic molecular and cellular techniques, including cell culture, transfections/transductions, siRNA, chromatin immunoprecipitation and animal studies is required. Candidates must be enthusiastic and dedicated to science with excellent organizational skills and effective at working independently, while also collaborating and assisting the team in its collective research goals. Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects is must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
