Summary/Scope
The Translational Development/Pharmacogenomics group is seeking a post-doctoral candidate with a strong background in immunology and inflammatory diseases. The candidate will have a strong background in immunology, preferably with experience studying human immune biology. In addition to being suitable for publication, the work will involve understanding the key mechanisms that drive human immune disease, leading to drug target identification and validation, as well as understanding patient response to therapy.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Isolate peripheral blood cells from human blood donors. Isolate cells from tissue of various sources. Culture in different immune biasing/polarizing conditions.
2. Characterize altered immune responses relevant to disease. Perform flow cytometry characterization, sorting and gene expression analysis.
3. Coordinate the generation of gene edited cell lines, siRNA, and/or small molecules to develop tools for the study of loss-of-function of key targets in the setting of primary immune cells.
4. Maintain well written and accurate research electronic notebook detailing work undertaken
5. Comply with laboratory safety procedures
6. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journal
Skills/Knowledge Required:
1. Ph.D. in the field of Immunology and Inflammation
2. Extensive experience in isolation, culture, and characterization of cell lines and human primary cells
3. Hands-on experience with common immunological assays (cell activation, proliferation assays, cytokine analysis by FACS and ELISA, and multiplex assays)
4. Experience with immune cell activation and characterization assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot, RT-PCR, RNA preparation, viral transduction, mammalian cell transfection, immunoprecipitation, and western blotting.
5. Experience in the field of immunology/inflammation is required. Experience in autoimmune and/or inflammatory diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies, and/or fibrotic disease is preferable.
Note: Postdocs will be eligible for Celgene benefits but will not be entitled to receive Celgene equity, bonuses or annual merit increases. Minimum relocation assistance will be offered on a case by case basis only.
