Postdoctoral Fellowship in human immunology : Philadelphia, PA, United States
A post-doctoral position is available immediately at The University of Pennsylvania to study how cumulative exposures to cross-reactive antigens alter T cell immunity in humans.
A postdoctoral researcher position is available in Dr. Su’s lab to study the human T cell response to yellow fever vaccination. We have showed that individuals have clonally expanded and functional memory T cells to pathogens to which they have never been exposed. These memory T cells likely developed in response to basal stimuli from the microbial environment as the result of cross-reactive antigen stimulation. We are interested in understanding how this type of memory response contributes to T cell immunity against new immunologic challenges. We have an ongoing yellow fever vaccination study to evaluate antigen-specific T cell response before and after viral exposure. The study involves molecular approaches to capture specific T cell populations and deep profiling of vaccine-specific T cells. The ideal candidate should have expertise in molecular cloning, tissue culture, protein chemistry, and flow cytometry. Having computational experience for high-throughput data analyses is highly valued.
To apply, please send your curriculum vitae and a cover letter with a statement of research and technical experience by e-mail to Dr. Laura Su at laurasu@upenn.edu
