The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328 – £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
We are recruiting a post-doctoral Research Associate to investigate the structure, dynamics and interactions of the RNA binding proteins regulating local mRNA translation in neurons. The Research Associate will use NMR and other Structural Biology techniques, together with BioLayer Interferometry, ITC and Fluorescence to create mechanistic models for RNA target recognition and mRNA regulation during neuronal development and disease. The Research Associate will work in close collaboration with a Cellular Biologist within the RNA Regulation Laboratory and with collaborating teams in the UK and US.
The position is available in principle from the 1st of January 2019 to 31st of December 2020 in first instance, with the possibility of extension.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or about to submit) in NMR and Structural Biology. The S/he must have skills in NMR, Structural Biology and in the study of macromolecular interactions using biophysical techniques. S/he must have some experience in protein expression and purification. Experience in the study of RNA regulation is desirable.
Please note: Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (Salary £30,922 – £32,607 per annum, including London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).
