The Institute for Molecular Engineering (IME) is a unique interdisciplinary institute launched by the University of Chicago in 2011 with the aim of translating molecular-level science into technological solutions with potential societal impact in health care, energy, environmental sustainability and information technology. The Biological Sciences Division (BSD) fosters the University’s academic activities in both basic and translational biology, including medicine. The IME and BSD are launching a joint search for faculty to be co-appointed in the IME and one of the departments of the BSD.
IME and BSD invite applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in the fields of Cancer Biology/Bioengineering or Immunology/Immunoengineering to candidates working in basic or translational biological research and to those applying computational and experimental engineering approaches addressed to challenges in cancer and immunology, including the microbiome. The position is offered in a rich environment of biomolecular and materials science, immunology, and cancer immunology and interactions between academic units that include the IME, the Committee on Immunology and the Ben May Department for Cancer Research. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field of study and have an outstanding research record. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a strong research program and to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
