We seek a highly-motivated, self-driven, enthusiastic individual for a postdoctoral position available immediately to join the laboratory of Dr. Maria Laura Avantaggiati in the Department of Oncology, at the Georgetown University Medical Center, located in Washington D.C.
The successful applicant will be involved in NIH-funded projects in one of the following research areas:
1. Mitochondrial structure, biology and function, in relationship to cancer and developmental disorders.
2. Interface regulation between cancer cell metabolism and the tumor immune environment.
3. Development of novel GEM models to study the activity of p53 in tumor initiation and progression in the liver and lung. 4. Development of novel cancer therapeutics.
Applicant(s) should have experience in basic molecular biology techniques, such as protein purification; DNA-protein binding assays; cloning and expression in mammalian cells and in bacteria; quantitative RT-PCR; chromatin immuno-precipitation assays; fluorescence microscopy; drug toxicity assays, southern and northern blot analysis; electrophoretic mobility shift gel assays (EMSA). Experience in metabolism is highly desirable (pathway analysis, seahorse extra-cellular flux analysis). Some experience with mice (genotyping, tumor injections) is also required. The ability to conduct research independently as well as proficiency in oral and written communication skills are required.
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and determined by NIH guidelines.
The current position gives priorities to U.S. citizenship or US permanent residents, although all applications will be considered.
