Job Description
Ben Taub Hospital (BTH) serves the needs of Houston/Harris County residents and is staffed by Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) professionals. BTH provides inpatient and outpatient services for medically indigent and psychiatrically impaired persons. One full-time postdoctoral fellowship position will be offered for the BTH/BCM Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship in Human Trafficking track. This a recently added track that focuses on training psychology postdoctoral fellows in the identification, treatment, and advocacy of victims of human trafficking (HT). We are recruiting one postdoctoral fellow with expertise in trauma, abuse, and/or human trafficking, who has particular interests in working with patients from diverse and marginalized backgrounds, has exceptional clinical and research skills, and has a demonstrated history of or potential for publishing in medical journals.
· Conducting bio-psycho-social interviews with potential victims of human trafficking
· Gathering de-identified human trafficking patient demographic and health information through in-depth patient interviews
· Assessing for trafficking victims within intersecting at-risk populations such as the homeless and domestic violence victims
· Tracking patient progress (through bio-psycho-social framework). This includes monitoring resource utilization/underutilization to better direct patients to appropriate services
· Analyzing patient data to discover potential trends among human trafficking victims
· Being a clinical liaison with area advocacy agencies that have interest in working with human trafficking patients
· Coordinating human trafficking victim services and engaging in direct outreach to ensure efficiency and comprehensiveness of service delivery and to increase victim identification
· Providing psychological treatment to human trafficking victims, when necessary
· Working closely with hospital staff and faculty to identify potential human trafficking victims and to educate and train providers, staff, and community members on methods of screening for human trafficking
· Tracking psychiatric outcomes to develop and better understand psychiatric treatment modalities for human trafficking victims and assist in manuscript preparation
· Disseminating knowledge obtained from research through workshops, public service announcements, lectures, and publications in medical journals.
This fellowship track meets the licensure requirements for Clinical Psychologists in the State of Texas. The fellow is encouraged to pursue licensure in Texas during the year.
Required:
· Applicants must come from an APA- or CPA-Accredited clinical or counseling doctoral psychology training programs.
· Applicants must have completed all requirements of their doctoral degrees by the start of the fellowship, including dissertation, and APA- or CPA-accredited internships
