Area of Research: Are you an expert in mass spectrometry who would like to add ‘microfluidics’ to your repertoire? We have recently acquired a cutting-edge mass spectrometer, and we are looking for an enthusiastic postdoc to join us in probing the contents of single cells with microfluidics and mass spectrometry!
Description of duties: The applicant who accepts this post will join our team in working to develop a cutting-edge new method for probing the contents of single cells using microfluidics and mass spectrometry. The successful applicant will have a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline, and will have extensive research experience with mass spectrometry. Experience with proteomics, metabolomics, and/or bioinformatics is a plus. Experience with microfluidics is not required, but if missing, the applicant should be willing to learn.
Salary: $35,000 – $55,000 CDN (commensurate with the level of experience)
Required qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD (granted in the last 5 years). Strong written and oral English communication skills are required. Experience working in teams is strongly desired.

Supervisor: Professor Aaron Wheeler
Expected start date: January 1, 2019 (this date is flexible based on the selected candidates’ availability)
Term: Initial appointment is for one year at first, with possible renewal for another 1-2 years upon mutual agreement and funding availability.
FTE: 100%. The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro-rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.
Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
