Dr. Stewart Shankman is looking to hire two full-time Post-Doctoral Research Fellows for his new lab at Northwestern University (Department of Psychiatry) who have expertise in human electrophysiology (and perhaps neuroimaging). The post-doctoral fellows will work on several current and pending NIH funded studies examining the mechanisms and risk factors for internalizing psychopathologies (e.g., depression and anxiety) as well as the relation between internalizing and externalizing disorders. Candidates who have advanced statistical analysis abilities (e.g., mixture models/latent profile analysis, etc.) or knowledge of sophisticated electrophysiological methodologies (e.g., time frequency decomposition, source localization, etc.) are especially encouraged to apply. These postdocs will the unique opportunity to work on multi-method (e.g., psychophysiology, neuroimaging, behavior) research while gaining knowledge of psychopathology and mental health research. The post-docs will take the lead on writing up papers using new and existing data, and will be encouraged to pursue independent grants (e.g., K-awards), research, and collaborations within Northwestern University and across Dr. Shankman’s network of collaborators.

Specific Responsibilities:
To help analyze psychophysiological and/or neuroimaging data
To write manuscripts from existing and new datasets
To supervise students and other research assistants working in the lab
To conduct new studies and write independent grants (e.g., K awards)
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Clinical Psychology or related discipline.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Has strong interpersonal skills
Has strong writing skills
Be highly motivated
Can manage multiple tasks in an efficient, competent and productive manner
Skilled in the use of statistical software applications such as R or SPSS
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Experience working with and analyzing EEG/ERP/electrophysiology and/or fMRI data
Advanced statistical skills (e.g., mixture modeling, machine learning, etc)
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Experience with MATLAB and R is a significant plus
Background in translational research, and a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.
