Information about the Research Project
We are looking for a motivated postdoc with significant experience (ideally at least one postdoc position) in advanced nanofabrication, including electron beam lithography, photolithography, III/V processing and flip-chip mounting, as well as knowledge of semiconductor devices like LED, VCSEL, edge-emitting lasers and photodetectors, to join our multinational and dynamic team. The aim of your research project is to develop the nanofabrication for an integrated lab-on-a-chip device, which enables single nanoparticle plasmonic sensing inside nanofluidic structures.
Information about the research group
The Langhammer group at the Chemical Physics Divison at the Department of Physics operates at the interface between materials science, nanoscience, catalysis, nanoplasmonics and in situ spectroscopy, with a particular focus on sustainable energy-related materials, nanosensors and nanoparticles. For that purpose we continuously develop and evolve our own methodologies for state-of-the-art nanofabrication, as well as build our own customized research instrumentation. Now we intensify our efforts towards integrated nanofluidic lab-on-a-chip devices (see our recent paper: Nano Lett., 2016, 16 (12), pp 7857–7864).

Major responsibilities
Your working time is fully devoted to the research related to the project and to develop the micro- and nanofabrication protocols for the processing of fully integrated lab-on-a-chip devices, which enable single nanoparticle plasmonic sensing inside nanofluidic structures. You will also take part in the characterization and sensing performance testing of the developed devices, as part of a larger ongoing effort in this direction in the Langhammer group.
Position summary
The position is limited to maximum 2 years full-time research studies.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position you must have a PhD in Physics or similar with focus on advanced nanofabrication of semiconductor devices. An already completed postdoc in advanced nanofabrication is a merit.
You must have significant experience with working in cleanroom environments and micro- and nanofabrication, including photolithography, reactive ion etching, III/V processing and flip-chip mounting. Moreover, you should have knowledge of the processing and application of semiconductor devicess such as LEDs, VCSELs, edge-emitting lasers and photodetectors. Previous experience with Electron-Beam Lithography is considered a merit.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, which involves collaborations within other researchers and research groups within the overarching project, you are expected to have excellent collaboration skills. Social skills and team player attitue is a must.
The position also requires excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. Applicants who do not have English or a Scandinavian language as their mother tongue need to provide documentation of good communication skills in English, typically evidenced by an English language test, for example TOEFL 550 (paper-based)/TOEFL 213 (computer-based), and exemplified during the interview process prior to admission.
