Job Description
The laboratory of William Margolin is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral research fellow to work in the area of bacterial cell division and organization. The Margolin laboratory is located within the highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment of the world’s largest Medical Center. Our research focuses on the regulation of cell division of Escherichia coli and other model bacteria, and involves a broad range of methods including molecular genetics, advanced microscopy, protein-protein interactions, and membrane protein biochemistry.
The successful candidate will take a leadership role in a small but productive research group at the forefront of bacterial cell biology, set in a highly collegial department with a strong record of mentoring young scientists. Requirements include a Ph.D. in microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, or cell biology, clear and effective English communication skills, a strong publication record as a graduate student, scientific creativity, reliability, and independence in research, and research experience and/or demonstrated interest in microbial cell biology and functioning of protein machines.
