A postdoctoral fellowship is immediately available to work on a 5 year NIH-funded project aimed at generating reporter rhesus macaques for testing existing or future somatic cell genome editing tools. This recently awarded project is supported through the NIH Office of the Director as part of the Somatic Cell Genome Editing (SCGE) initiative, which seeks to advance the development of safe and effective genome modification technologies. Involvement in this project will provide the fellow with the unique opportunity to contribute to this rapidly evolving field and aid in the development of the next generation of therapeutic approaches for the treatment of human diseases. Applicants will be expected to integrate into an established program and develop skills in oocyte recovery, in vitro fertilization, embryo microinjection, trophectoderm biopsy, and embryo cryopreservation. Competency in molecular skills, including gene editing, whole genome amplification, and gene sequence analysis is essential. Applicants should be able to work in a team dynamic, carry out research unsupervised, keep up-to-date on relevant literature in the field, provide meaningful data reports for presentation at scientific meetings and prepare manuscripts. Salary will be based on NIH postdoctoral guidelines.
