Postdoctoral positions are needed to conduct studies related to therapy for stroke using in vitro and in vivo mouse models. The candidate will work directly under the supervision of the NIH-funded Principal Investigator. The responsibilities of the candidate are to perform studies investigating the effects of aging and the role of stem cells on neurovascular repair.
The candidates for the position must have a doctorate degree (Ph.D., M.D. or comparable doctoral degree) with strong communication and writing skills. Great expertise in experimental mouse models of stroke is required. Other required techniques include mouse middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) stroke surgery, stereotaxic injections, confocal microscopy, western blotting, cell culture, and stroke behavioral studies. Candidates must be highly proficient in data analysis and writing manuscripts. The individual should have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to supervise students and other members of the research team. The proposed salary for this position will commensurate with experience and in accordance with Tulane’s guidelines.
