We are currently seeking PostDoc candidates to investigate mechanisms of heme/iron-driven inflammation and oxidative stress within the Iron Research Program of the institute. In particular, candidates will study the impact of iron overload and deficiency on the pathogenesis of human diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and sickle cell disease. The candidate will perform cutting-edge research that integrates human biology and hematology with novel therapies using innovative technologies and approaches including classic molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, as well as modern imaging techniques, sequencing and single cell analysis techniques, bioinformatics, and preclinical in vitro and in vivo models. In addition, he/she will collaborate with other research scientists across the NYBC, including basic and translational investigators.
Requirements include:
•Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.
•Demonstrated good record of high impact research and a strong scholarly record.
•A history of working with multi-disciplinary team is preferred.
•Research experience handling and working with mice and basic laboratory techniques, including PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, genotyping and cell-based aseptic techniques.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Strong attention to detail in all work processes; participate in team meetings and provide input into experimental design.
•Work within a strong team environment; identify problems in a timely manner, evaluate options and implement solutions.
