Job Description
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology along with the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. We are seeking a highly motivated, well trained individual interested in pursuing Blood Cancer and Epigenetic research. The Postdoctoral Associate will evaluate the epigenetic and molecular mechanisms by which deregulation of several oncogenic long non-coding RNAs lead to leukemic transformation using both animal models and primary human samples. The ideal applicant must be a goal oriented, pro-active and hard­-working individual with excellent organizational skills who is passionate about making a difference in cancer research.
The general duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and a strong background in molecular and/or cellular biology, and preferably have experience working with hematopoiesis and RNA biology. Experience in stem cell biology or familiarity with bioinformatic tools (particularly next generation sequencing data analysis). Excellent computer and communication skills and proficiency in English are mandatory. Qualified candidates need to upload and submit a CV, expected availability date, a complete list of publications, and 3 name of references.
