Postdoctoral Research Scientist

　　Starting Salary from £31,604 to £41,929 (Depending on experience) plus relocation allowance where appropriate. Initial 3 year fixed term contract.

The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies, with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics, and in vivo models.

　　Our innovative and ambitious research themes focus on understanding the regulation of the tumour microenvironment and cancer metabolism, in particular:

　　• Intrinsic cancer cell vulnerabilities caused by cell growth

　　• Interplay between the tumour microenvironment, metastasis and recurrence

　　• Biology of early disease, aimed at developing a ‘Precision Prevention’ approach

　　Your project will seek to address a fundamental question in cancer research – the factors which underlie the tissue specific profile of common oncogene and tumour suppressor mutations in cancer. You will investigate the determinants of tissue specificity exhibited by mutations in the Wnt signalling pathway using advanced genetically engineered murine models of cancer. This research will be carried out in the Sansom Laboratory as part of the multinational CRUK Grand Challenge consortium “SPECIFICANCER”.

　　Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field, be driven by scientific curiosity, and have an excellent publication record in cutting edge cancer research. Experience in cancer cell biology and in particular applied use of genetically engineered murine models of cancer will be an advantage.
