　　A postdoctoral position in systems neuroscience is available at the Neuro-Electronics Research Flanders (NERF) in Leuven, Belgium. This project is a collaboration between the laboratories of Dr. Karl Farrow and Dr. Alan Urban whose primary objective is to combine functional ultrasound imaging and optogenetics to decipher the links between visual circuits and behaviour at the mesoscopic level. Within this framework, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed researcher with an excellent academic record to join us.

　　Profile

　　Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. or is nearing completion of a Ph.D. in bioengineering, biophysics, neuroscience, neurobiology, optics, cell biology, or related fields with a strong experimental background, academic history, and publication record.

　　Previous experience in in vivo optogenetics, electrophysiology, imaging (fMRI, 2-photon), stereotaxic viral injection, engineering or programming language (Matlab, python, C+/++) are a plus. The ability to work independently, multitask, seek technical input from diverse sources, and maintain good familiarity with related scientific literature are also expected from the ideal candidate.

　　The research cluster at NERF is founded by IMEC, Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB) and Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven). These three world-reference institutions also grant access to their own facilities or promote direct collaboration with relevant departments for this project. Additional support is provided by the ESAT-MICAS in the engineering faculty of KU Leuven.

　　The position is for an initial 1-year term with the possibility of up to 3-year reappointment assuming satisfactory performance. The salary of the successful candidate will be based on the demands for research personnel in the salary system of Flemish universities.
