The Laboratory of Neuroimmunology has a focus on basic and translational research to identify mechanisms underlying the development and maintenance of chronic pain with the long term goal to develop preventive or curative interventions.
We are looking for a highly-motivated post-doctoral researcher for two projects on neuropathic and inflammatory pain. One project focuses on the influence of cancer on the immune system and the effect on chemotherapy-induced neuropathy. The other project aims at understanding how inflammatory changes associated with obesity augment musculoskeletal pain.
The team led by Dr. Andrew Shepherd is part of the Neuroimmunology Laboratory that is shared by 5 well-funded PIs and provides a well-equipped, highly interactive, collaborative and international research-focused environment. We highly value hard work, curiosity, innovation, teamwork and professional development, in combination with a healthy work/life balance.
Applicants should have recently obtained (or be about to receive) a Ph.D. in neuroscience, physiology or equivalent. Some experience with mouse handling is also required. Experience with pain measurements or other behavioral analyses in mice, cellular signaling, biochemistry, and confocal microscopy is preferred. The position is available immediately.
