Chris Richardson’s lab (founded March 2019) at the University of California, Santa Barbara is hiring a postdoctoral researcher.
Lab research projects explore the intersection of DNA repair and genome editing. Our overall goal is to understand the spatial and temporal coordination of repair complexes at DNA lesions, including double strand breaks caused by gene editing reagents like CRISPR/Cas9. We are especially interested in identifying critical steps during DNA repair that can be manipulated to optimize therapeutic gene editing. Initial projects include regulation of double strand break repair in human cells and variability of DNA repair between different human tissues.
The lab is organized to support curiosity-driven research with a culture that’s inclusive, collaborative, and – most of all – fun. We are part of the collegial, highly-interactive, and diverse Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology department in idyllic Santa Barbara. Come work on cutting-edge research, with great colleagues, in a fabulous location.
Applicants must have (or will soon receive) a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or an equivalent field. Please also be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where multiple responsibilities compete for time, function well as part of a small team, and have great communication skills.
