　　Job Description

　　The Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology, Dr. Fangliang Zhang's laboratory, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This is a research position that will study the regulatory effects of protein arginylation on cell migration, adhesion, and division.

　　The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

　　Formulating testable hypotheses and designing and performing experiments to test hypotheses.

　　Working independently to contribute to the basic research of the laboratory taking a lead role in investigating the regulatory effects of protein arginylation on cell migration and adhesion as well as cell cycle progression.

　　Assisting in the general management of the laboratory and overseeing a research or laboratory technician as well as mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

　　Participating in writing manuscripts for publication in refereed journals in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.

　　Participating in writing grant applications in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　Ph.D. or other doctoral-level degree in cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a closely related field of study in a life science discipline, or M.D. Some experience in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, and/or biochemistry. Experience in posttranslational arginylation and cytoskeletal dynamics is preferred. Experience and proficiency in using standard computer software in a research environment, including Microsoft Office Suite, basic statistical analysis, image analysis, publishing software, and database searching and analysis. Experience in writing and publishing papers in refereed journals. Experience in giving talks and poster presentations of research.
