　　The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is New Zealand’s leading independent biomedical research institute, with a focus on breakthrough discoveries in immunology and immunotherapy. We have around 100 staff committed to finding cures for diseases using the body’s own immune system.

　　Our dedicated Translational Immunology team investigates the impact of nutrition, and associated changes in the gut microbiome, on the development of an optimal immune system, with an aim to identify potential links with non-communicable diseases such as asthma, allergy, obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

　　We are seeking two talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join our Translational Immunology team on a 2-year fixed term basis, to conduct research on the fundamental aspects of nutritional regulation of the immune system. Preferred candidates for these positions will have extensive experience in clinical nutrition research and dietary interventions (particularly in the context of inflammatory and metabolic diseases) and/or in immunometabolic regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses, (in vitro and/or in vivo). This research is being conducted within the wider framework of the High-Value Nutrition National Science Challenge funded by the New Zealand Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment (https://www.highvaluenutrition.co.nz/).

　　Essential qualifications:

　　o    PhD in the field of nutritional immunology, with extensive experience in human nutritional interventions and immune-phenotyping.

　　or

　　o    PhD in the field of immunology/immunometabolism, with extensive experience in cellular metabolism, immunology and related methodologies (e.g. metabolix flux analyses using ‘Seahorse’ technology, metabolic network analysis, molecular biology, etc).
