　　The Penn Center for Pulmonary Biology, Mangalmurti Lab is recruiting Postdoctoral Fellows for projects on innate immunity and inflammation. The long-term goal of the Mangalmurti lab is to investigate the cellular and molecular networks that regulate innate immunity and inflammation in the vascular compartment.   Sepsis, the dysregulated host response to infection, is the leading cause of death in hospitalized patients. Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a form of life-threatening respiratory failure that often occurs because of sepsis. The Mangalmurti lab studies innate immune regulation by red blood cells with the goal of improving the mechanistic understanding of ARDS and sepsis pathogenesis.

　　We are currently interviewing post-doctoral candidates to work on a project focused on elucidating the role of red cell TLR9 in host-pathogen interactions. Self-motivated, enthusiastic candidates with at least one first author publication are encouraged to apply. The candidate should have an MD/PhD or PhD and experience with mouse models, molecular biology, imaging and flow cytometry. Expertise in microbiology or immunology is preferred. The candidate should possess strong analytical and writing skills and should be able to work independently and carefully plan and execute experiments.
