　　DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.

　　The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is the next generation very-high-energy gamma-ray observatory. It will include over 100 telescopes at both a northern site at La Palma and a southern site in Chile. DESY at its Zeuthen location is a lead participant in CTA (see www.desy.de/CTA). We are advertising a postdoc (f/m/d) position to work on the high-energy telescopes of CTA (SST), focussed on but not exclusively restricted to instrumentation.

　　The position

　　Active role in the CTA consortiumContributions to the small telescope camera project: commissioning, testing, simulations, data analysis, reconstruction software and performance aspectsPreparing for science with CTAGamma-ray data analysis and interpretation of current-generation Cherenkov telescopes within the institute’s gamma-ray group

　　Requirements

　　Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or astroparticle physics or equivalent qualificationExperience in instrumentation, data acquisition, data analysis or simulations in astroparticle physics, high-energy physics or astrophysicsGood knowledge of English and the willingness to learn GermanWillingness to participate in expert and working meetings and conferences abroad, as well as occasionally in measurement and commissioning campaigns at the CTA sites

　　Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties.
