Multiple postdoc positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Xinshu (Grace) Xiao (https://www.xiao-lab.org) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). We are looking for motivated bench scientists with strong expertise in molecular or cell biology. The projects aim to study RNA biology using molecular and high-throughput genomic approaches. We investigate a wide range of topics in the regulation and function of splicing, RNA editing and non-coding RNAs. In general, our work closely integrates high-throughput sequencing methods, bioinformatics and functional studies in human and mouse cells.
The bench scientists will work closely with bioinformaticians and computational biologists, and will receive highly interdisciplinary training. A successful candidate should have a broad expertise in standard molecular or cell biology and biochemical techniques. She/he is expected to have the following qualities: (1) a strong publication record, (2) highly motivated, (3) good communication skills (oral and written).
Our lab has a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team combining genomics and computational approaches with experimental techniques. We are partly funded by the ENCODE project (https://www.genome.gov/Funded-Programs-Projects/ENCODE-Project-ENCyclopedia-Of-DNA-Elements), which offers immense and invaluable opportunities for the successful candidates to interact with world-class investigators in biology and genomics.
