The Laboratory of Molecular Regeneration and Neuroimaging at the Burke Neurological Institute is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team dedicated to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying axon growth and regeneration (http://burke.weill.cornell.edu/zhong-lab). The major focus of our lab is on developing strategies to promote axon regeneration, synaptogenesis, and functional recovery. We generate genetically modified mouse lines to study how pro-growth signaling pathways direct axon rewiring and functional recovery in models of central nervous system injury. Other related projects in the lab address the circuitry of pain and pathological mechanisms underlying the neurological phenotypes of neuro-cardio-facio-cutaneous syndromes. Techniques employed in our lab include TRAP-Seq, 3-photon deep imaging, CRISPR/Cas9 and TALEN gene editing.
The Burke Neurological Institute is a research institute affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, the medical school of Cornell University. We provide ample training opportunities, a collaborative research environment and state-of-the-art facilities to the next generation of neuroscientists.
Qualified applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related fields at the time of employment. Experience with molecular biology, spinal cord injury and/or in vivo imaging would be very welcome. Successful candidates will have a strong interest in basic medical research, as well as excellent organization and communication skills.
