Job Description
Postdoctoral Position - Lyme Disease Pathogenesis
A postdoctoral position is available to study the molecular pathogenesis of Lyme disease, more specifically the role of the alternative sigma factor RpoS and the signaling molecule cyclic-di-GMP in tick-to-mammal transmission of Borrelia burgdorferi and persistence of mammalian infection. The project involves the use of mutagenesis, transcriptomics, fluorescent reporters, and microscopy to elucidate regulatory pathways and physiological/pathogenesis-related functions of borrelial genes in ticks and mice. A PhD, proficiency with recombinant DNA and RNA techniques, and a solid understanding of prokaryotic gene regulation are required. Experience with microscopy is desirable.
