　　The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate in computational biology. The Postdoctoral Associate is responsible for performing research activities and experiments in the laboratory on several aspects of research projects. The Postdoctoral Associate should be familiar with concepts in some of these areas: cellular & molecular biology, oncology, and immunology and animal handling or other related experience. This position will assist the Principal Investigator and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Miami. This position will require advance knowledge and capability to exercise independent judgment when carrying out research activities and performing non-routine and complex laboratory projects. An advanced knowledge in microbiome research is preferred but not mandatory.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. (in Microbiology and Immunology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Oncology or other related field) or M.D. (or equivalent, e.g. M.B.B.S) is required. Computational biologist with extensive experience in the field of Metagenomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis. Also, having good exposure of statistical genet-ics analysis, manipulation of large data sets, knowledge of algorithm development, scripting in Python, Bash, R, IPythons, Linux/Windows. Computer skills required; Power Point and other graphics software as preferred. Excellent skills in English (both verbal and written) required. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
