Job Description
Job Purpose
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who are interested in developing and applying novel molecular technologies to study cancer stem cells in tumors. This position is part of a CPRIT-funded project to characterize stem cells in multiple types of cancer models using genome editing and transposon-based tools for tumor formation. We aim to mechanistically define genetic pathways that collaborate to induce stem cell formation and maintenance to identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention.
Job Duties
· Investigate cellular properties of stem cells in development and tumorigenesis.
· Develop and use novel and advanced biological approaches, and genetically-engineered mouse models to uncover genetic and epigenetic alterations in cancer initiating cells in order to understand mechanisms underlying tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis.
· Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
· Evaluates and analyzes data.
· May establish new research protocols and procedures.
· Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
· May be responsible for laboratory operations.
· May supervise research staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Ph.D in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
Experience: None required.
