Responsibilities Postdoctoral fellowship position in neuroimmunology is available at the Thomas Jefferson University in Dr. Silva Markovic – Plese lab. Our research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms of early autoimmune response in multiple sclerosis (MS), and translational studies of the mechanisms of action of immunomodulatory therapies in MS. Our NIH funded project will characterize the role of IL-11 in the Th17 cell migration to the central nervous system in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of MS. Human studies will focus on the RNA sequencing of the flow cytometry sorted cells from the cerebrospinal fluid and determining their TCRVb repertoire.
Candidate should have a PhD. degree in immunology or related fields and at least three years of postdoctoral experience and three first authorship manuscripts. Experience in cellular and molecular immunology, including flow cytometry, immunoblotting, gene expression analysis, RNA seq, TCR repertoire analysis and immunohistochemistry, and work with animal models of disease is preferable. Applicant should have demonstrated scientific productivity, good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to conduct independent research, with the capacity to obtain independent funding in the future.
