The Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute of Rutgers University is seeking to hire an early career Ph.D. clinical psychologist at the Postdoctoral or Assistant Professor rank. The Institute has a 40-year history of multidisciplinary research in the field of environmental and occupational health. The applicant will join a team of scientists that includes psychologists, toxicologists, epidemiologists, exposure scientists, and public health professionals who have developed multiple cohorts of children and adults (pregnant and non-pregnant). Research focuses on characterizing exposures and physical and behavioral health effects in response to a range of environmental and occupational contaminants including pesticides, heavy metals, air pollution, and endocrine disruptors, as well as non-chemical stressors such as World Trade Center trauma. Research opportunities in New Jersey, nationally, and internationally include partnerships with local communities to develop approaches that will address environmental justice to reduce the undue burdens from poverty, pollutants, and psychological stress. The Institute is especially interested in qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds who can bring new approaches to address these complex biopsychosocial, environmental influences on health.

Minimum Education and Experience
Candidate must have a PhD in Clinical Psychology.
Knowledge of and expertise in field of occupational and environmental health.

State of the art facilities include a Clinical center serving World Trade Center first responders and providing clinical and consultative services for patients with occupational or environmental exposures, and a human controlled environmental facility.

Opportunities for the advancement of clinical and research skills are available through access to state-of-the-art facilities to include a Clinical center serving World Trade Center first responders and offering consultative services for patients with occupational or environmental exposures. In addition EOHSI is home to a human controlled environmental facility and laboratories with significant capacity for analysis of exposure biomarkers. Training grants and an NIEHS Center of Excellence offer opportunities for collaborations with students and faculty throughout the University and have pilot grant funds available to spur innovation. Academic appointments at the Rutgers School of Public Health and Department of Psychology will encourage collaborations and sharing of resources. EOHSI and Rutgers University have strong mentorship programs for early career investigators.
