A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the NIH-funded laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Kwong in the Department of Pediatrics and Division of Cardiovascular Biology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia (www.kwongmitolab.com;https://www.pedsresearch.org/people/faculty/jennifer-kwong-phd ). The Kwong lab has funded projects (NIGMS R01, DoD, and Additional Ventures Single Ventricle Research Fund) centered around 1) uncovering novel mechanisms of mitochondrial energy stress signaling 2) defining mechanisms underlying mitochondrial control of cardiac acylome remodeling, and 3) delineating mechanisms connecting mitochondrial energetics and cardiac development.
Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in cardiovascular biology, cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, or related fields. Importantly, successful candidates should have an interest in exploring mitochondrial biology in the context of the heart. Experience in developmental biology, mitochondrial biology, cardiovascular biology, or mouse models of disease are preferred.
