Description
You will identify candidate trans-acting molecules that interact with the promoter genetic element, characterise them for their role in necrotrophic effector regulation and fungal virulence and apply the knowledge gained to improve crop protection strategies for Australian cereal growers. You will communicate with a broad scientific team including plant geneticists, molecular biologists, plant pathologists and bioinformaticians and support staff and co-supervise students in aspects of molecular plant pathology.
You will also use protein-DNA pulldown approach or equivalent to identify gene promoter binding proteins and protein-protein pulldown approach or equivalent to identify and characterise transcription factor co-factors.
We are looking for someone with a PhD in molecular biology, chemistry, or an equivalent field, as well as a background in molecular biology and/or biochemistry.
Candidates should also portray an established publication track record in DNA- protein interaction and/or protein-protein interaction techniques.
Candidates with experience in molecular plant pathology and signal transduction and transcription factor biology are encouraged to apply.
