The Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT, http://english.cebsit.cas.cn/), formerly known as the Institute of Neuroscience (ION) is a cross-disciplinary, multi-institutional organization that aims to consolidate the existing research strength of CAS laboratories via the formation of collaborative research teams. These teams will address major frontier questions in brain science as well as in intelligence technology that involves brain-inspired computing methods and devices.

A lab manager position is open in a newly established laboratory (Laboratory of perception and decision making) led by Dr. Gouki Okazawa. His research aims to understand neural mechanisms of visual object recognition and decision making. The laboratory uses state-of-art population neural recording techniques for monkeys trained to perform visual decision-making tasks, together with computational modeling of human behaviors, to uncover the principles of perception and cognition.

Position Description:

1. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of laboratory management, including paperwork, lab personnel management and training, equipment and reagent purchasing and maintenance and travel arrangement for lab personnel.

2. The candidate will be responsible for the management of all lab resources in order to ensure a highly efficient lab operation.

3. The candidate will be responsible for handling any other lab-related matters that the PI sees appropriate, including accommodating visiting scientists and students, coordinating with other labs for equipment usage and sharing, etc.

4. The candidate may also participate in research activity depending on interest.

Qualifications:

1.A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in neuroscience, biology, engineering, or a related field is required.

2. Excellent speaking, reading and writing skills in both Chinese and English. The candidate is expected to handle all the lab management tasks that require Chinese in place of the PI.

3. Good interpersonal skills to communicate with people in and outside the laboratory.

4.Proficiency in using basic computer programs, including office software. Experience in programming is a plus.

5. Prior experience in working in a laboratory (neuroscience, biology, engineering, or related fields) as a lab manager, research assistant, student, or related position.

6. The candidate should have the intent of remaining in the position for at least two years.

Start of employment:

As early as possible. Preferably no later than September 1st, 2021. The position will remain open until filled.

Salary:

The salary will be determined in accordance with CEBSIT salary policy.
