Position Summary
The Recruitment Manager, within the Talent Team, is responsible for developing staff recruitment strategies and leading the implementation of recruiting programs, internships, internal employment opportunities, new staff onboarding procedures as well as performance monitoring during the probationary period. The Recruitment Manager works closely with internal hiring managers of various departments/units, other internal colleagues, and external vendors/liaisons, to meet the staffing needs across the University efficiently and effectively. The Recruitment Manager also works closely with other HR colleagues, especially in the phases of talent attraction and early employment, to boost staff experience at NYU Shanghai.
The main responsibilities include:
● Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the recruiting team (and temporary staff when applicable). Be responsible for goal setting, guidance and performance evaluation of the team;
● Work with HR leaders and departmental leaders to develop job descriptions for staff positions, form search strategies, and plan recruitment schedule, events, and other initiatives;
● Monitor and review hiring processes on a regular basis to ensure consistent and high quality work;
● Manage candidate evaluation and selection process, facilitate hiring decisions, and ensure sound communication with candidates and internal hiring managers;
● Develop best practice in selection process in line with the University’s valued behaviors;
● Act as a resource both internally and externally. Manage external recruiting agencies when applicable. Build up and maintain good relationship with internal and external stakeholders;
● Connect with the Onboarding Team and coordinate onboarding process for all new staff hires, communicating well with relevant departments (e.g. IT, Facility, Admin, Finance, etc.) to make sure timely onboarding procedures are well established;
● Work with Staff Development Manager to monitor new hires’ performance during their probation period, and communicate with relevant supervisors if required;
● Communicate strategies and reports on key metrics to leadership teams on a regular basis. Analyze statistics on overall recruiting success. Ensure accurate information of new hires in the system (e.g. Workday) and reports;
● Perform other duties and participate in others projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education
● Bachelor’s Degree or above in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Liberal Arts, and other related fields, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required;
● Knowledge and degree in adult learning and psychology preferred.
Required Experience
● Extensive recruitment experience in a university or professional office environment, with 4+ years of progressive experience in human resources, preferably in talent acquisition;
● Profound knowledge about recruitment, and pre-/post-recruitment work including employee development program and employee performance management in their professional lifecycle;
● Experience with higher education highly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal in both English and Chinese) with the ability to work collaboratively and independently in a cross-cultural environment;
● Being able to think strategically with good analytical skills;
● Strong influencing, negotiation and consultative skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels;
● Sophisticated job interview skills and good knowledge of social media practice;
● Good project management skills; attention to details with an ability to respond quickly and effectively to problems/crises; being able to provide training/guidance to team members and hiring managers; ability to multi-task and prioritize, and meet deadlines;
● High level of professional integrity and sense of confidentiality;
● Being proactive, creative, enthusiastic, motivated and able to think out of the box;
● Comprehensive knowledge of computer and software applications is required.
